Thankful Thursdays - A Vision of Thanks. Florida Firefighters in Action

Here is my Thankful Thursdays contest entry.

Cape Canaveral Fire

Fire Fighter's Prayer

When I am called to duty, God wherever flames may rage,
give me strength to save a life, whatever be its age.

Help me to embrace a little child before it's too late,
or save an older person from the horror of that fate.

Enable me to be alert to hear the weakest shout,
and quickly and efficiently to put the fire out.

I want to fill my calling and to give the best in me,
to guard my neighbor and protect his property.

And if according to your will I have to lose my life,
bless with your protecting hand my loving family from strife.

Controlling Fire in Florida

Controlled burns take place every year in Brevard County, Florida in order to minimize the danger from wild fires in the summer. Insurance claims in 2008 were high and troubled arsonists seeking attention didn't help. Many conservationists oppose the burns saying a lot of animals that can't escape are destroyed. It's a hard decision to make but in the end, natural out of control fires decimate both wildlife and property indiscriminately.

I thought I would share these photos I took with the AR community.

This shot was taken from an airboat on the St. John's River near Titusville.

Some good news! Rates on 30-year-fixed mortgages fell to 5.04 percent this week, declining along with bond yields and easing concerns over inflation.
