When my buddy Steve moved from his rented townhome 3 years ago, he was determined to take his tree with him to his new house. The tree didn't go quietly however, and he broke 2 straps trying to haul it out of the ground with the moving van. I couldn't stop laughing and did not see the logic in all this effort but Steve is a stubborn man and the roughed up tree was liberated! It must have known what was to follow because it died a year later along with Steve's dream of home ownership. He lost his construction job, prices were falling, the bills mounted and the bank came calling. Three years after moving in, the home has been foreclosed upon and Steve is in N. Carolina trying to keep employed and stay positive. I'm sure many Realtors have heard this same story more than a few times.
Here's a suggestion. Let's give the $165,000,000 AIG bonus money to stubborn, proud, hard working guys like Steve so he can plant a new tree in a new back yard. I'm sure if you came to visit, he'd give you a cold beer and the shirt off his back if you asked for it. Let's keep America Great by ensuring that the will of the common man stays strong. Obama is on the right track and with a positive attitude, we can all get back to some semblance of normal soon.
