...yet it is still beautiful!

I love it!  We Americans do love our country-- Look at the great effort to display the flag! Thanks for this uplifting photo!

Time to retire that flag.  A local Boy Scout troop may be happy to do that for them.  A flag burning ceremony can be a pretty somber one... and it is one time that the boys are actually quiet.

Those colors are still strong.

No matter what these colors are the best in the world.

Great photo - but I agree with Robert-  it is time to retire the flag. But it is cool how it is still standing proudly waving in the wind.

Thank you all for your comments. Yes, it is still beautiful and yes, this flag needs to be retired. The photo was taken at the end of a dock on the Banana River Lagoon in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Depending on your point of view, this flag can be a tragic symbol of the current State of the Union or an uplifting sign of hope and perserverence.

A tattered flag always makes me "mist-up" - in a good way.  Thanks for the pic.

Beautiful Flag!  When I see tattered flags like this one, it seems to remind me of the Declaration of Independence and the Revolutionary War - the sacrifices they made over two hundred years ago and those made by soldiers ever since.

Maybe it should be retired - maybe not.  A flag like this one shows pride - enough pride to have flown it for a long time.

Tom and Mike - You guys are real patriots and proud Americans!

For those of you who said the flag should be retired, you will be happy to know that when I checked last night, it was replaced with a new "Made in China" flag duct taped to the stick as before. Any comments on that?
