John Mayer's Real Estate Blog: Delta 1V Heavy Rocket Launches from Cape Canaveral - My 100th post!

Delta 1V Heavy Rocket Launches from Cape Canaveral - My 100th post!

One of the perks of living on the Space Coast is that you get to see and HEAR Shuttle and rocket launches. As I was riding my bike on Saturday, a Delta 1V Heavy Rocket took off carrying a GOES-O weather satellite. I grabbed my camera and had time for a few quick shots before it roared out of sight... And I mean roared! Dogs were barking, parrots were squawking and car alarms went off. It was fun to watch.

The Space Program is a vital part of this area and provides jobs for thousands. With the winding down of the Shuttle program, it is hoped that the vast pool of technology workers in Brevard County will be utilized by other new programs. It looks promising from reports I have read. All in all, this is a great place to live, work or be a tourist. Come on down and watch a launch from your new condo balcony :-)

Hi John....you're pretty quick on your feet old boy (just another Canuck expression from the Queen's land).  Great shot...and nice reporting.

I love watching planes take off and land but this would sure beat that all to heck.  The things you can see out on your bike with a camera, eh?  Just throwing in another Canadianism lol.

Bob from Belleville just hit 100 tonight also. Good work guys.  Hey Larry, "big boy's club???".  I guess it would be politically incorrect to say big girl's club?

John - Congratulations on your 100th post.

A couple of years ago, after Spectral Magic had concluded, I heard a number of people pointing upwards to the sky.  I saw the Space Shuttle heading off into space, although from our vantage point near Liberty Square, it was very small in the sky.

It was very exciting.

Thank you all so much for the congrats.

Gail - You mean they don't say that in Florida? :-)

Jenny - Y'all come down and visit, eh? Go Canada!

Larry - Forgot your PC hat today, I see :-)

Marc - It's great to see at any distance.
