Reuseable Valentine Cards - Save the Planet and Enjoy them Again.

It started out as a joke. I found a box of saved greeting cards one year and picked out a nice Valentine to go with the dozen roses on the table. On that special day, my wife never suspected she had received this card before until I fessed up laughing and gave her my new card. Ever since then, I take all the cards from both of us out of the box and display them as if they were new. The environment wins and you get to view the wonderful sentiments all over again, not to mention saving money in the process :-). Here's a thought ~ Just donate the money you save to your favorite charity. It won't take long to add up!

Reuseable Greeting Cards

These fresh, roses were only $9.99 at Save-A-Lot grocery stores. There is no way we would pay triple just because of the time of year. You just have to know where to shop and at that price, you can buy 2 dozen :-).

Valentine Roses

Marla's orchids are unique and special, just like her.

That's a great idea!   Saving money overall or putting towards a nice gift makes much more sense.  We cut costs another way too,

If you were to buy roses at at another time of the year maybe even two or three times they will cost you less and you will get way more mileage out of them with the unexpected time frame. That way do something like carnations at valentines they do not skyrocket like the good old rose. Just a thought. The surprise roses really do work in your relationship.

Recycling at home, it works until you get caught!

More sales - I agree.

Clark - Good point. I only pay normal price for roses. There is no way I would buy them at triple the price because of the day. You have to know where to shop.

Robert - Don't get caught :-)

John, Most people probably wouldn't remember if they'd received the same card or not! Great idea!

I totally agree John and am sending electronic cards or re-cyling :)

( you already saw jeff's card to me earlier this week in the snow - very good use of nature :)

by the way - your orchids are awesome!

Carra - Thanks! Ecards are great but Marla still likes the personal touch.

Debi - It's all "cleverly" designed to "win-win" :-)

Wanda - There are only so many variations of a greeting card that you can buy and at my age, I have seen most of them :-)

Grace - Jeff is a keeper! Marla gets the orchids from a guy in a van parked at the side of the road. They're always good.

Hi John, I can't say I can identify with the idea but hey, part of the fun in life is getting out of the box once in a while. In this case, getting the cards out of the box, :-)

William - We are comfortable enough to think outside the box and have a good laugh together. Every day should be Valentine's Day and Christmas and what matters most is what we say and do, not what we buy. Having said that, we still add new cards to the box every now and then :-)

Hi John, By golly, I think that you've come up with a new idea - bring out all the old memories each year - I love it!  And a dozen roses for $9.99 - you are one smart shopper -  great job!

Debra - How can you refuse that price?

Hi Sandy - Thanks for not calling me cheap - smart shopper sounds better :-) It's fun to see what we wrote on the cards a few years back.

John - That's one of the funniest things I've heard in awhile!  And yes, it's very clever - especially if you can get away with it. . .LOL
