Cocoa Beach Localism - Jump's Tiny Tavern is Where "Everybody Knows Your Name"

Jump's Sign

As most of my AR friends know, I ride my bike for about an hour every day and I've added a new twice a week (or more) stop to my schedule. Jump's Tiny Tavern in Cocoa Beach is a cross between Cheers and your typical Florida beachside watering hole and "Bad Attitudes" are not welcome! The beach is only a 5 minute walk if you feel like catching the ocean breeze with your honey after a Corona. It's a nice alternative to the commercialism of the Cocoa Beach Pier just down the road.

Come on in!

There are a lot of friendly, fun loving locals here. The horseshoe pits are a big attraction and there's a tournament on Saturdays, weather permitting. I love playing horseshoes, so this place is a natural for me! That's my bike by the tree.

Owners Steve and Angel Allen always welcome you with a smile, a handshake and a hug when you walk in the door.

The trio "Strobe-Lite" put on a great show on Friday night. That's me and Steve enjoying the music.

John - Jump's definitely looks like the quintessential Florida beach tavern and business establishment. . .I absolutely love it!

I remember when I was visiting Florida in February.  I was standing on the road in front of a place similar to that, while taking pictures.  All of a sudden I heard the sound of rolling thunder.  It turned out to be a herd of several bikers.  They were coming right at me in the middle of the road.  They made a slight "U" turn into the parking lot.  I snapped their picture because they were a sight to behold.  One of 'em smiled and asked if I had gotten his best side in the photos.  I responded that when I was out in the road, I thought for a minute they were coming to see me:-)  He responded, "For a minute I thought I was too!"  I explained that I was glad they had changed their minds, because at my age, I probably couldn't have handled it!

This is one of those places that look like they are a lot of fun.  Not to mention the fact you can get away form all of the franchise places too.

I love the bright colors and signage. One day I need to get to south Florida.

Hi Myrl - The new owners have definitely turned it around and it's a comfortable place to go. Heck, they even offer you a beer cozy if your going outside to play shoes. It sounds like you met Marlon Brando and the Wild Bunch. You have to stop standing in the road like that :-)

Don - It is what you make it and having friendly people helps.

John - That's Florida signage for sure. BTW, south Florida is Miami - we are "central" :-)
