Thunder on Cocoa Beach Super Boats on Display in Port Canaveral

Thunder on Cocoa Beach Super Boats were on display in Port Canaveral on Friday in preparation for the big race on Sunday. The event is expected to pump a lot of money into Brevard County businesses. Event Schedule.

It's hard to focus your eyes in one of these things because there is so much vibration and motion. You have to be strapped in with a harness just like a race car driver.

These boats are AWESOME! We love to watch the thunder boat races when they come to San Diego Bay. I would love to drive one of these things! I love driving my little Sea Ray on the lake, so I can only imagine the craziness of the speed of one of these!

Stephanie - They are definitely loud and FAST. Almost 200 mph! I've gone 70 on a Sea Doo and that was fast enough.

Hi John, Some wonderful photos you are sharing here. The boats are awesome. Love the name of the restaurant-Fishlips.

Thanks William - I'll be heading to the beach around 3 pm to watch them practice. I'm sure I'll have a lot more photos to share.

Hi John - I went to a few races like this on Lake Mead in Boulder City. It's amazing how fast these go; I really admire the skill of the drivers ... and of the Thunder Girls.

John - I'll be going to the beach on Sunday to watch the races and maybe a few "Thunder Bikini Girls" :-) Life is good!

Great looking boats, I'll bet there are plenty of $$$$ tied up in them. Great shots.

Randy - You have to love the sport and have deep pockets along with generous sponsers. The races add a lot to local economies and that's a good thing in these times!

The skill guy isn't the one driving... it is the throttle guy.  He has to keep ravs on the edge, but not over-rev when the boat is out of the water.

Lane - Those guys are amazing! They don't use an automatic RAVE system like Sea Doos to limit revs when catching air.
