John Mayer's Real Estate Blog: AR Photo Blogger - Distant Hurricanes Can Still Cause Bigger Surf Many Miles Away

AR Photo Blogger - Distant Hurricanes Can Still Cause Bigger Surf Many Miles Away

Some larger waves were still rolling in at 6:30 on Monday but nothing like the 8 footers caused by Hurricane Igor Sat. and Sun. Bermuda took the brunt of it so far. These photos were taken on my evening bike ride to the Cocoa Beach Pier. I wish I would have snapped some on Sunday but I'm sure there will be another opportunity in storm season.

Bigger Waves from Hurricane Igor

Surfer Dudes size up the surf. They had to be prepared for rip currents.

Bigger Waves from Hurricane Igor

These pilings have to be maintained on a regular basis due to the pounding they take from the surf and storms. Mother Nature can unleash her fury at any time and we all need to be prepared.

John, Great photos!  It is amazing what kind of power these storms have!

Tony and Darcy - You have to respect their power. Fortunately, Florida is lucky so far this year.

I keep watching those hurricanes on the sattlelites.  I'm glad Florida hasn't seen as many of the severe ones hit this year.  It's great some of the effects do provide entertainment and sport for your surfers however.

Carol - You never know when one will come your way but my area has one of the best track records for avoiding major storms in the State.

Hi Myrl - The surfers love the bigger waves and my wife said there were about 10 wind surfers on our stretch of beach when she was lounging with her E-Book.

Hi John, I also stopped by the beach - Satellite, to check out the waves during Igor and it really brought us some good surf. I know a lot of kids that headed out to the beach to hit the waves - they loved it.

Al and Peggy - Storm season lasts until November, so who knows.

Sandy - It's always great for the surfers, just not to good for beach erosion as you know.

Hi John, we don't get those breakers over here on the West Coast.  I always love visiting Brevard and each time stop to walk the beach even if it's for only a short time just to hear the sound of waves!

Silvia - I know what you mean. The Gulf is beautiful but it's like a lake sometimes. I love the sound of the surf too!
