October is breast cancer awareness month and pink should be everywhere to remind us of the importance of early detection and treatment. My Mom had a double mastectomy, so this is a cause very dear to my heart. These pretty flowers grow wild in our Florida grass and my wife Marla transplanted some for our screen room.
We have a hibiscus bush that produces mostly yellow flowers but this pink one just blossomed as if in tribute.
Please support your local efforts to bring awareness to this devastating and deadly desease.
This year's event will start on Oct. 23rd with the 5K Pink Ribbon Walk for breast cancer awareness, followed by Flavors of the Port, Bed 'n Bathtub Race, Shrimp Peel/Eating Contest, along with vendors and live music for all to enjoy. Proceeds will be going to the American Cancer Society-Brevard.
