John Mayer's Real Estate Blog: 2nd Annual Thunder on Cocoa Beach Superboats on Display in Port Canaveral

2nd Annual Thunder on Cocoa Beach Superboats on Display in Port Canaveral

The second annual Thunder on Cocoa Beach Superboat races wil take place on Sunday May 22, 2011. Last year's event was a huge success and pumped a lot of money into the local economy. I went to the Port today to snap a few photos of these monster boats while they were on display. Saturday they are in the water for trial runs and the races start at 11:00 am on Sunday. I'll post more photos of the action after I process the pics.

Wow, OMG, what an awesome event.  If I were in Florida, I soooo would be taking my son there!

Hi Chris - They make a lot of noise and reach some incredible speeds on the water. I'm looking forward to the main event on Sunday.

John, very nice looking boats...especially liked the STIHL Superboat...I wonder how many chainsaw engine's it takes to get that monster up to speed?

Nick - I would say chainsaw engines would be relegated to the paddle boat class. These bad boys ROCK!

John, I bet they rock and I'm just a little surprised that there aren't any bikini's around those boats.

Boys and their Toys, John:-)  I must admit that I'm amazed however.  The boat and matching Mustang in your top picture, I'd love to have.  We're looking at a lot of moola represented in your photos.

John  Boats like that could probably cost $4,000 to $5,000 without the advetising :)  Love your photos - look frowrad to the next batch

Hi Myrl - There's mega bucks tied up in those boats but I have to correct you. That's a Camaro SS, not a Mustang :-)

Karen - $4000 to $5000 might pay for a little gas! :-) I'm posting race photos  soon.
