Memorial Day 2011 - The Brave Never Die but is it Time for Peace?

The brave never die, though they sleep in dust. Their courage nerves a thousand living men ~ Minot J Savage

American Eagle with a Tear

I salute the brave men and women who put their lives on the line every day so that we can all enjoy a Memorial Day BBQ with friends and loved ones. Wouldn't it be nice if they could join us instead of going into harm's way? Perhaps eventually, we can embrace peace once again (while carrying a big stick).

John - oh that we could really have a peaceful world. But, as long as there are those that would impose themselves upon others, that would hate someone just because they are different, that just want to rule over others, it won't happen. But it doesn't mean we shouldn't strive for it. I thank those who serve, who have served, and who have been lost regularly.

Mike - I realize peace is a little too much to hope for in these volatile times and I am certainly not a dove. We will always have a need for troops on the ground but I think we should concentrate on cyber / technical warfare mixed with some timely diplomacy from a position of strength. Let's train some hackers! Maybe then we can bring some soldiers home instead of deploying more.

John..

We do what we have to do, and pray for a world in which will will not have to do it anymore. Happy Memorial Day.

John,

In my lifetime, we've only had a few short years where there was no war somewhere. The world really needs to change.

John, A great tribute to our soldiers as I am a truly patriotic person and loved it! Your thought of peace sounds good but not meant to happen while there are others in this world who still do not value human life. Enjoy your day!
