John Mayer's Real Estate Blog: Mauve Stinger Jellyfish, Will Smith and Bikini Friend?...And the Mai Tiki Bar

Mauve Stinger Jellyfish, Will Smith and Bikini Friend?...And the Mai Tiki Bar

A week of Atlantic onshore winds blew in purple piles of Mauve Stinger Jellyfish. Even though they were warned, swimmers still went in the water and a few hundred got stung. The majority of the critters were found from Cocoa Beach to Satellite Beach and no major heath problems were reported. Florida "Crackers" say meat tenderizer helps with the pain while others recommend vinegar or benedryl. Fortunately, they blow back out to sea when the wind shifts.

Mauve Stinger

Could this be Will Smith and friend wading through the Jelly Fish on Cocoa Beach?

Will Smith on Cocoa Beach?

There's no jellyfish at the Mai Tiki Bar on the Cocoa Beach Pier. Drop a line over the side from your bar stool and catch your lunch :-)

John, Definitely wouldn't want to share the water with jellyfish but throwing a line in the water looks like FUN and it's safe!

Wanda - Fishing is always fun (unless you catch a jellyfish :-)

John,

I can almost always count on you for the obligatory bikini shot. Looks like Jada Pinkett Smith has put on a few pounds.

John, Great photo's! Get stung by a jellyfish then go to the TIKI BAR, not so bad. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Keith - I think the TIKI Bar just might help to ease the pain (if you order a counter-stinger). :-)

John, cool pictures of Florida beach. Nasty looking J-fish. Is that Will Smith in the bikini?

John - Your Jelly Fish made national news.  I almost said "Belly Fish" because of your 2nd photo. . .LOL  We are enduring temps 20 degrees below normal for our area.  Everyone is loving the cooler temps in the 60s and 70s, but I like it hot. . .I'm a swimmer:-)

Ted - How did you guess? Those jellyfish stung about 200 people a day.

Hi Myrl - I was hoping we made National News for another reason. I don't like 60* anymore. Right now we're in the high 80's, low 90's and the humidity is fairly low. Hopefully, your weather will improve soon.

Chris - I'm sure you have a few TIKI bars out your way. Cold beer anyone?

Those things are no joke.............they are as scary as they look. Big and ugly creatures but beautiful and mysterious as well. I thought your blog may have been about building tiki bars but it was a good read anyhow!!!!

Tony - Those little things can inflict a lot of pain. Maybe I'll blog about building a tiki bar next time :-)
