Summer Fun at the Lake - A Perfect Mix of Kids, Fishing, Tubing and Nature

My daughter took these photos at the cottage in Ontario while enjoying the July 1st Canada Day long weekend. Our Grandkids had a blast as you can see and the only thing missing was us here in Florida. Hopefully, we will see them in the fall and we can build sand castles on the beach and do the Orlando theme parks.

That's Katy showing off her catch to Grandpa Ed.

John - Looks like they had a great time! I'm sure they're looking forward to seeing you in Orlando as well.

Hi Carla - They live in Ontario and we don't get to see them often enough. At least we have photos ;-)

Thomas looks like he's scared shitless, but Hannah appears to be having a good time ;-)

John - From another photo I have, Thomas appeared pretty confident but he does look a little scared in this one. Hannah just smiled the whole time. The kids loved it!

Hi Steve - Every child would benefit from a trip to the lake learning about nature and boating. My parents always had a summer cottage and we had the best times there.

John,

I love this post for two reasons. My earliest recollection of happiness was when my dad took me fishing - I was five years old. The second recollection of adult happiness occurred when I went to Maine and lived by myself in a cabin off the shores of Moose Pond, with Pleasant Mountain in the backdrop and I saw the sight and heard the sound of the loons.

Thanks for an extra dose of happiness :) :)

Hi Patricia - I'm glad these photos triggered fond memories. For me, good times at the family cottage are some of the finest recollections I have. So you were the Hermitess of Moose Pond, Queen of the loons? ;-)

Thanks for sharing your great summertime pictures.  They will bring back fond memories.

John, Grand children are so much fun. I take mine out on our pontoon boat fishing, crabbing and swiming.

That's a delightful collection of photos, John!  I don't know which I liked best.  I certainly liked seeing Katy sharing her "catch" with her grandpa.  I also liked seeing Hannah and Thomas enjoying the tube ride.  Even the ducks had a wonderful day!

Hi Roy - These are definitely memorable photos.

Keith - Pontoon boats are the best for kids and pets. They can all roam around without getting too antsy ;-)

Thanks Myrl - I wish we were there but the photos will have to do. 1300 miles is a fair distance away! I must correct you on the "ducks" though. Those are Canadian Loons. They are on the $1 coin that everyone calls a "Looney".

John,

I wasn't alone. Other staff and camp counselors had their own cabins or tents too. The only difference was, they had room mates, I had my own cabin on the lake. But the loons were always comforting. Plus, if I couldn't sleep, there was always somebody up, staring up at the stars, walking the trails, or building a camp fire. It was amazing!

Patricia - Those types of experiences make us better human beings. Mother Nature is a wonderful teacher and I always considered it an honor to be in her class. I was a Troop Leader in the Boy Scouts and camping out was what we all looked forward to.
