John Mayer's Real Estate Blog: My Early Evening Bike Ride Through Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach

My Early Evening Bike Ride Through Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach

I start my daily bike ride around 6 or 7pm and take along my trusty (and small) Canon point and shoot just in case. My route takes me along Ridgewood Ave. to the Cocoa Beach Pier where the first two photos were taken, then back to Jump's Tiny Tavern to throw a few horseshoes. From there, I head toward the Port and back home again after stopping briefly at the beach crossover at Taylor Ave. to watch the surf roll in. Life is good!

Many people were calling it a day when I arrived. Do you think the Pier has enough signs? :-)

Signs everywhere!

These young ladies were having fun staying fit playing vollyball while others chose to relax watching the waves.

Bikinis and Beach Balls

On the way back, I noticed this aurora above the clouds and thought it was cool looking.

John- I hope your market will not be hammered as badly as Houston will now we have the maned space program winding to an end... never thought I'd see this day come.

What will happen to all the launch pads & runways at the Cape ?

Best Wishes!

Chris - They've got signs to cover their _ss, signs with rules, signs telling you what not to do and tons of advertising signs on the sides. And the sign said......dd~

Hi Mike - There are a lot of jobs being lost here but the pads will still accomodate unmanned Atlas, Delta and Space X rockets. They are now looking at possibly using the Atlas V to launch US Astronauts into space once again from the Cape. We'll see.

John, those are great photos!  Looks like a great bike ride!  I too laughed at all the signs, it reminded me of that old song that goes ...Signs, Signs everywhere signs do this don't do that.... anyway great post!

Thanks Tony - All we need is the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band to play the song :-)

John - The picture with the cloud aurora is astonishing.  I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like that.  I've been saying for the last few years that I was going to get a bicycle.  I live close the American River with its bike trails.  It's a shame I don't already have one.   I need to fix that!

Hi John, DId you happen to notice how much better the shots come out on the point and shoot after you became expert at the DSLR. It may have to do with actually learning about the elements of photography and it just seems when I take a photo with the Lumix, it comes out so much better than before. My imagination, perhaps?

The signs seem to be a part of the culture. You have to wonder though who puts all of them up and why anyone thinks it is OK to waste money on the uselessness of them in the first place. I suppose if a person is in office and needs to point to their accomplishment while in office, at least the sign is testament to the fact that they did something beyond collect a pay check and retirement for the rest of their lives.:-)

Hi Myrl - I thought the aura was unusual too. It's time to get that bike. You've been talking about it long enough! :-)

Thanks Keith - I can't stop taking photos, so I guess they'll keep coming! :-)

Hi William - You may have a point. Learning to use my Nikon DSLR probably helped my skills in general. We can all do with a few less signs cluttering up the planet but then what about all those sign workers that would lose their jobs? Maybe they could run for office. :-)

John,

I saw an open spot...maybe you could put a sign there?

Hi Ann - The Pier is a typical sign filled tourist trap but the people watching is great!
