Below is my video of our Carnival Dream Cruise shore trip featuring horseback riding, iguanas, monkeys, coatimundis and a tour of Isla Roatan. The weather wasn't great but we made the best of it and got to see the REAL Roatan. It was an experience! The locals say that international buyers are snapping up properties here and developing the island. Is that good or bad? Stay tuned.
The still photos were captured from my Panasonic HDC-TM90 video camera, so they are not as crisp as photos from my Nikon D90 but I think they are acceptable for the web.

This is downtown Coxen Hole in Roatan, Honduras. We were in a van with the windshield wipers going but you can tell this is not downtown Cocoa Beach. Every so often, we would see policia armed with machine guns patrolling the area.

The Roatan Iguana Farm was part of the tour. The inclement weather kept most of them up in the trees.

John,
Nice to get away every once in a while...but it's nice to get home too.
Rich
You're right Rich - It's always nice to sit back in my recliner watching a Toronto Maple Leafs hockey game :-)
John, I liked the 8 buck zoo trip! the ride to the eatery was pretty cool also. Hope you both had a good time.
Hi Keith - The "zoo" was really just a guy's project to help pay for the house he was building and renovating. It didn't have very much to offer. At least it was only 8 bucks :-)
I have never heard of a "coatamundi" before. When I first read your title line, I thought it read, "Rotten Coatamundis" - You really had me goin' there for awhile. The Iguanas in your picture are huge. I thought the ones I saw in the branches of Puerto Vallarta were large, but they have nothing on those in Roatan.
Hi Myrl - I'm glad I got you goin'! This was the first time I saw a coatimundi and they are cute, playful little things with teeth. The iguanas were pretty big but then evreyone feeds them all the time with radio active bananas (just kidding :-).
Arthur and I just dropped in to wish you a Joyous Holiday and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2012
Thank you Karen - May your Holidays be filled with good cheer and loving family.
